CHEERS MATE, just installing it now, seems to be working.

just one question, every time i open mail, it downloads all my messages and then says i have like 800 new, is there a way i can stop this? is it possible to delete them locally and have them not download from hotmail?

where do i go to change these settings?

    cheers mate

Hey Daniel, thanks for all your hard work. Very much appreciated since becoming a convert to a mac.
Dont know if I’m doing this wrong but for your 1.51 release, Im having trouble with the synchronization code.
If I delete a message in macmail, it still appears unread on the hotmail account when I sign into hotmails website.
It still remains there even after I click ‘get mail’ in mac mail. Any suggestions??

Many thanks, keep up the great work
    Regards, Ben.

    Hi Daniel,

thanks so much for working on this. It’s great.

I have downloaded your latest plug-in 1.51. I keep on getting the same emails in my inbox although I have deleted them several times. Looks like they are back every day??? Any suggestions?

    Thanks…Pierre

First of all BIG THANKS to Daniel for this great plug-in

    Hi Pierre,

I had the same problem you mentioned and fixed it with the following advice from the 1.50 area. I actually set it to “synchronize with the server.” Hope it helps.

    MacRegor Says:

    Hi John,

To prevent Mail from downloading previously downloaded messages, do the following:

In Mail preferences, go accounts tab, select the http one, and then click on Advanced, you will se there some useful configurations. One of them is a combo box that shows “Don’t change anything on the server” you can change that to “mark as read” or “delete messages from the server”. Then the messages aren’t downloaded again (at least this worked for me”

  7. Shawn December 2nd, 2007 8:53 pm

Thank you for all of your great work!

However, I am getting a strange bug when trying to send messages using services.msn.com. It returns an error, with the error message : “*** -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:]: nil string parameter”. Do you know what could be causing this? Thanks!

    From Quebec

  8. doug December 2nd, 2007 9:07 pm

Actually, Daniel addresses the issue of Mail not deleting from the server in the FAQ file that is downloaded with the plugin:

    4. Why wont my mail delete from the server?
Messages are not removed from the server when you put them into the trash. For
them to be removed from the server you need to use the “Erase Deleted Mes-
sages” item from the “Mailbox” menu or press
    ⌘K

  14. Canman December 6th, 2007 8:29 pm

Great plugin. Have been using it for a while on leopard.
However, I recently tried adding a new account … now shows up as “null” account. When I open mail desktop stays blank. I can view inbox with comman+1 however, if I go to preferences then accounts to attempt to delete new account mail freezes up and I must force quit. Anyone having this problem or know of a fix??

  15. Hans De Geetere December 7th, 2007 2:12 am

same problems mail freezes and i must force quit.

  16. Kitty December 7th, 2007 3:22 am

I cannot see the trash folder for under my list of trash. I had problems with the last version and it seems I can’t refresh the folder list from MSN. How can I fix this

  17. Tara Benson December 8th, 2007 4:57 am

    I am also getting the

“Could not connect to ‘My Hotmail Account’
Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email” message coming up.

I sent you an email but you didn’t reply so I though i’d post here.

I was soo excited to finally have an answer to my mail/hotmail issue, so can you help me out with this error message?

    Thanks in advance,

    Tara

  18. Paul D December 8th, 2007 5:34 am

I’m getting an error when I try to send

*** -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:]: nil string parameter

  19. David P December 8th, 2007 8:41 am

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication!

  20. phil h December 10th, 2007 4:34 am

im also getting the same error that it cannot connect to my hotmail account as access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email”. and that link is useless as it just sends to a page for signing up to hotmail?!

  21. Canman December 10th, 2007 2:24 pm

Im assuming no one has found a fix for the problem with mail freezing and not being able to delete the new account causing the problems. Can anyone give me information on how to uninstall the plugin as to return mail to a functioning state?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

  22. Caleb December 10th, 2007 8:47 pm

Thanks, Daniel, for all your hard work!

Also, for those of you getting the subscription message:

Microsoft stopped offering free HTTPMail access to hotmail and MSN accounts via Outlook, Outlook Express, and Entourage (and Apple Mail) a couple of years ago, but they grandfathered in everyone who was already using it.

So, if you have a new account, you’re out of luck unless you decide to pay their monthly/yearly fee.

  23. Tyson December 11th, 2007 8:12 am

First, Daniel ROCKS for producing this…Huge Fan!
Is anyone getting this bug: an icon next to their hotmail inbox that shows that it keeps “working” and doesn’t stop, however it is finished checking new mail.

  24. Mike December 11th, 2007 2:47 pm

Well I’m no techie and it seems to be working OK for me – which is just as well seeing as Safari won’t work with Hotmail – or at least it won’t with me on the version of Hotmail that I have. This is excellent, many many thanks

  25. absence December 13th, 2007 2:54 pm

    also getting the

    hi

i tried finding your email but i can’t find it …
    i hope you read this

is there any possibility that you can make the same sort of plugin for getting hotmail on a iphone?
thanks allready for the great plugin and all the work you’re doing!

  27. Richard December 16th, 2007 8:10 am

    Thanks!

What a relief to have hotmail back in Mail.app on Leopard. Did notice the CPU usage for mail.app jump 20% after installing v 1.5.1 of the plugin. Looking at this mail account in the left nav it is constantly in the state of connecting and I can hear a lot of hard disk chatter which never lets up while mail.app is running.

I noticed on the initial connection to hotmail it took (literally) a half hour to collect 100 messages (while my IMAP accounts would have taken 3-5 minutes tops).

I tried setting my mail to collect every 15 minutes but that still doesn’t seem to be enough time for httpmail to finish what it’s doing and take a break.

Have also tried the above tips of changing what httpmail does with messages on the server (syncronize, delete from server, etc.) with no change in results.

Seems like httpmail needs a speed optimization or to have the ability to check messages less frequently than other accounts in mail.app — I’d be perfectly happy with hotmail being checked every 6 hours.

Many thanks for the great plugin and I look forward to the future improvements.

  29. Virgil December 17th, 2007 6:44 am

    Daniel,

First of all I want to thank you for this product it has made my email life so much more simpler, however I just bought a new Mac Book W/Leopard and I installed the the latest version of HTTPMail plugin 1.51and what I’m noticing is that when I deleted 43 old emails they reappeared when I turned it back on again. Some of them reappear as junk mail, and I receive multiple copies of the same email. Is this a Leopard issue? a Hotmail issue?, a HTTPMail plugin issue?.

I’m not complaining but I was so used to the ease and lack of any problems I had when I was using it on my old Mac Book. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Virgil

  30. Alistair December 17th, 2007 7:23 am

Daniel – thank you for all your hard work. As you don’t seem to have a donation function on your blog, why not nominate a charity of your choice to which those of us who think this is worth paying for (and I’m definitely one) can contribute?

    Kind regards

    Alistair

Daniel. Thanks so much for a great plug-in!! I used this under Tiger and was ecstatic when I found out you got it working for Leopard. I am having trouble with the plugin though. Whenever I open mail, it starts to fetch the mail and then freezes. After the freeze the beach ball shows up. There is nothing I can do but force quit it. It’s made Mail useless. I’ve tried disabling the plugin and that doesn’t work either. Here is the error code I am getting in the console. I haven’t a clue what it means! :) HELP!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this great time saver. The latest update has solves many of the issues I was dealing with, but there’s something going on where Mail is supposed to make a sound when mail comes in, but it doesn’t. Instead it’ll make the sound when I send mail out.
If you need more explanation, feel free to contact me.

  33. Koen December 19th, 2007 6:19 am

    Hey Daniel,

Thnx for all the work, but I still got some problems!
I installed the new version of your plugin, but the hotmail acount keeps on synchronizing all the time. The other problem is that not all of the messages on the hotmail server are downloaded.
When i’ve got new mail it only download some of the new mails, not all of them….

    Can you help me out….???

    Thnx!

  34. Matt December 19th, 2007 9:34 am

I’m having the same problem. It syncs continuously (even though my mail is set to check every 5 minutes) and anything I delete reappears.

  35. Alan December 19th, 2007 12:09 pm

Just today things stopped working. That’s after the 10.5.1 update, the quicktime update, and the Macbook keyboard update that have recently come out. Did those change things?

The error I’m getting today is: “Could not connect to ‘Hotmail’
Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email

But I’ve already updated to Hotmail live or whatever they’re calling it, and it HTTPMail was working just fine.

    Anyone else having these issues?

  36. Andrew December 21st, 2007 7:52 am

Daniel, your plugin is a godsend.
it worked like a champ in tiger. i have intalled leopard. now (as others have reported) my mail keeps trying to download any message i delete or move to a local folder on my mac.
i have tried “sync” and “dl’d messages mark as read”
    hotmail is contantly “activley syncing”
the only way to shutdown mail is force quit.
    contact me with any q’s
an update would be GREATLY appreciated. you are amazing.

  37. Stephan December 22nd, 2007 5:03 am

Since yesterday 21.12.08 httpmail accounts don’t work anymore on my wife’s PB 12″ PowerPC. It says
    Connection error:
*** -[NSCFDictionary addObject:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance blabla.

I don’t know what is happening. Does anybody?

Happy christmas from europe and a great new year to everyone (especially to Daniel and his family)

  38. Jens December 26th, 2007 6:02 am

    Hi Daniel,

I just wanted to say thanks for your great work on the plugin. I’ve finally persuaded my Mum to jump to OSX from Windows and was worried that her first experience would be her being unable to access her mail, but your plugin has made the transition seamless!.

    Many thanks,

    Jens

  39. angell December 26th, 2007 9:30 am

    also getting the

  40. Eric December 26th, 2007 2:11 pm

    Hi Daniel,

    Thanks for your work!

I installed on Leopard the plug-in 1.50 and later the version 1.51 and I got the following messages in both cases when opening Mail:
“Error checking for HttpMail Plugin updates
    XML parser error:
Encountered unknown tag html on line 2
    Old-style plist parser error:
Malformed data byte group at line 1; invalid hex”

After that, when trying to get download e-mails, the following message comes:
“Could not connect to ‘My hotmail account’
    Forbidden”

Did I do something wrong in the installation?

    Best wishes,
    Eric

  41. Jamie December 26th, 2007 2:57 pm

Daniel… Many Thanks for taking the time to get this working with Leopard!!

For all those people getting the ‘could not connect to hotmail error’ this is because you have newer accounts or accounts that have never been accessed through a 3rd party programme before. Thus MS now want to charge you for this service.
You used to be able to do the same thing natively through Outlook Express on a PC but if you try and set it up now it wants to charge you.
    Try this workaround..http://www.leoparduser.com/leopard-mail-hotmail

  42. Toby December 27th, 2007 10:52 am

    Hi Daniel,

I’ve set up several friends with your plug in now and they’re all really happy with it!!

Sadly, I can’t get it to work with my hotmail account. I have a hotmail.co.uk account, and get the alert that several other people seem to get:

    ‘Could not connect to ‘Hotmail’
Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email

I’m guessing this is because it’s a newer account, but is there any hope for me? I’ll try the FreePOPs plugin in, but really wanted to get httpmail up and running as it all seems so straightforward.

    Thanks,

    Toby

  43. RALPH December 28th, 2007 5:08 pm

    Hi,

im a new mac convert and i was just wondering if it makes sense that it says installation successful, yet no additional options show in the window where the options are pop3, imap and exchange- nothing else at all…thanks

  44. Bea December 29th, 2007 2:46 am

    Hi Daniel,

First of all, thank you soooo much from Spain for your fantastic plug-in. I don’t know if anyone else is having this problem which is just tiring me a bit: when I check my mail, I receive every time 14 completely empty!!! spam messages. 14, and every time, even if I delete them and afterwards I recheck the mail. When I was using Tiger, and the former versions of your plug-in, I never had this problem. So, what should I do?

Thank you again! Any suggestions about this would be helpful. ;-)

  45. quentin December 30th, 2007 7:58 am

    dear Daniel
FIRST OF ALL THANKS FOR YOUR LEOPARD PLUG IN FOR HTTP MAIL. MY DAUGHTER HAS AN HOTMAIL.IT ( FOR ITALY) HOTMAIL ACCONT. DOES IT WORK WITH YOUR PLUG IN???I HAVE TRIED TO INSTALL IT BUT NO WAY : ((
    THANKS YOU IN ADVANCE

Jamie writes, “For all those people getting the ‘could not connect to hotmail error’ this is because you have newer accounts or accounts that have never been accessed through a 3rd party programme before. Thus MS now want to charge you for this service.”

I’ve been accessing hotmail through HTTPmail for years, so it isn’t the case that I’ve not accessed it through Mail, nor is it the case that I have a new account. Anyone have any ideas how to make this work again? Just to repeat, this version of HTTPmail worked perfectly on Leopard until a week or so ago.

  47. Rami January 1st, 2008 9:17 am

Thank you Daniel for your httpmail plugin …. I have a nice idea to make your plugin work with many Webmails and solve many problems with hotmail … just take look at this website http://webmail.mozdev.org (this is plugin for Mozilla Thunderbird Webmail) .. it’s work pretty well so far :)

  48. Jonathan January 3rd, 2008 7:51 am

    Hi there from France.

Thank you a lot for the great work you’re doing. I’ve been using your software for 3 years and it really is a great tool, I couldn’t imagine doing without it.

I di however get a lot of freezing since I’ve switched to Leopard, especially when i check my Spam-box.

I was wondering wether you were planing to release an update to fix these minor issues?

    Thank you a lot!

  49. jason January 4th, 2008 5:36 pm

    daniel,

thanks so much for this contribution. i am having some troubles with leopard mail 3 and not being able to search in the hotmail folders. no matter how i search (entire, subject, to, from) no results come back. search works for every other folder however.

is there either a way to fix this OR a way to create another set of mailboxes and have httpmail read/write there instead?

    thanks so much…

  50. denkraai January 11th, 2008 6:14 am

You the man!!! Works like a charm.THX!

  51. Richard January 11th, 2008 7:45 am

This version keeps on repeat downloading stuff that I have already downloaded off the server and deleted locally. The previous version didn’t do this. It’s a great plug in but needs tweaking for Leopard still. When is the next release please Daniel?
    Cheers

  52. Richard January 11th, 2008 7:49 am

Also the plug-in duplicates my inbox in Mail which is less of an issue but still an annoyance. Cheers; keep up the good work!

  53. Paul January 12th, 2008 5:34 am

Great plug-in. Have used it for a year or so now. Time to donate!
However – like Richard I am having a problem with not being able to delete emails in my hotmail account. Every time I delete an email it gets downloaded again. I have just done a clean installation of my system, for various reasons, and so I copied all my mailboxes into the Library’s Mail folder. Now Mail has downloaded 1518 emails into my inbox, which means I now have 1518 duplicates. Gulp. Anyway, once it’s fixed I will donate. (I am a honest supporter of a lot of shareware apps).

Having the same problem Richard is. Are there specific server settings that are required to make it work properly? The Tiger version worked perfectly. I never had an issue with it, but this version still needs work.

  55. John O'Brien January 12th, 2008 12:56 pm

Good news! Everything worked fine after a restart. I’m off to Paypal you my thanks.

    Hello,

The plugin stopped working for me about a week ago after 2 weeks of using it. Not sure what I did but I think it has something to do with my Hotmail automatically upgraded to Hotmail Live. Does anyone have the same problem? Please contact me if there are any solutions. I would gladly donate/buy this plugin if it worked!

Hope to hear from you guys. Thank you and keep up the good work.

    Hi,
this plugins was working great on my MBP under tiger, and is working great also under leopard, but a friend of mine is unable to make it work on her imac under Tiger, same issue as Ralph : the install is done correctly but she can’t add a httpmail type account, the icon doesn’t appear in preferences. We tried the manual install as specified in the readme but issue still occurs. Is there an other way to make it work ?

  60. Christopher January 16th, 2008 6:16 am

Thank you for making HTTPmail. On Tiger it was the best program I had. I’m very glad you’ve made a version for Leopard, but there are a couple of kinks in it.
For some reason Mail won’t notify me of when something comes in. It’s only when I send something out that the notification sound will play. As a result I’m constantly checking my computer to see if anything new has come in.

Thank you very much for giving all of your supporters a place to talk to you.

  61. Didacsoy January 17th, 2008 8:32 am

Thanks for your awesome job with this plugin! When I found the Tiger version I was utterly relieved that I could check all my accounts with Mail, and when you released the Leopard version I went for it the very moment I updated. However, everytime I open Mail, I get a message saying “The version of the HTTPMail plugin installed requires MacOS X 10.4″ in addition, in the Preferences menu in Mail, in the HTTPMail plugin tab there says I installed v1.49 for Tiger. I’ve downloaded the 1.51 release half a dozen times and keep getting the same message… any ideas?

Thanks again for your fabulous work!

  62. Nolan January 19th, 2008 10:19 pm

Uh oh. So my hotmail account disappeared which was weird, and then I tried to re-add my hotmail account again. I then got a weird null error and such. Then I tried to quit Mail and couldn’t…. I installed the latest version of httpmail… and still doesn’t work. Oh noes :( What can I do to restore my Mail? Ugh headache. How did this happen? =(

  63. Al Zabarsky January 21st, 2008 6:55 am

Could someone PLEASE tell me why I get the following

“*** -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:]: nil string parameter” when trying to send mail using 10.5.1 and the 1.5.1 plugin – got me baffled????

  64. Al Zabarsky January 22nd, 2008 2:42 pm

Can anyone help me with the above problem???

  65. doum January 29th, 2008 4:33 pm

    Hi,

I just install httpmail on Leopard.
All works fine except one thing for the moment…
When I receive a mail, I read it in Mail, but it still appears unread on the hotmail account when I sign into hotmails website.

    Is it normal?

In Mail I set “synchronize with the server” in the advanced tab.

    Thanks for your help

  66. doum January 29th, 2008 4:47 pm

    Ok forget it
I have to be more patient :-D

  67. Robbie January 30th, 2008 3:12 pm

Yay! I’ve been waiting for this since Leopard swallowed my mail months ago! Once installed, I could see the old mail again. Great job, thanks!

  68. Nathan February 4th, 2008 7:27 am

Hi Daniel. I just installed the httpmail and everything went on fine at the mac.com side but when I try and receive mail from my hotmail account I get the message

‘Could not connect to ‘My Hotmail Mail’
Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email

the link just takes me back to my hotmail account but I do not know where or how to acquire the ‘subscription’ Any ideas…. thanks

    Nathan

  69. Pedro February 5th, 2008 1:56 am

    Hi Daniel,

First of all I’d like to say your work is great, I’m using it every day and I’ve no problem with my account. However I tried to synchronize my girlfriend account in my mail app and the message about the subscription doesn’t let me to use the account.

I’ve read that exists a plugin for MS Outlook 2003 & 2007 called Outlook Conector and I’d like to know if it’s possible to migrate this plugin to httpmail.

    Again, thanks for your effort.

    Pedro

  70. Brent February 7th, 2008 12:12 pm

I’ve been using the plug-in on my macbook and it works great. I also have an ipod touch and apple has just added a mail app to that software. Any way to get the httpmail plug-in to the touch? Thanks so much for past, present, and future help.

    Brent

  73. Andrew February 12th, 2008 8:20 am

I have been using httpmail for a while now. It has been working great. However, my entire inbox was deleted in hotmail so I can no longer access my emails from the internet. Just from mail. Does anyone know why this has happened and if there is a way of getting my inbox back in hotmail?
    Thanks

  74. Mark Fletcher February 12th, 2008 8:40 am

Andrew, did you upgrade to OS X 10.5.2? Ive noticed my HttpMail plugin got disabled. Im going to look at it today?

  75. J. Pyun February 12th, 2008 9:07 am

    THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Daniel, PLEASE LET US KNOW IF HTTPMail plugin 1.51 WILL WORK WITH OS X 10.5.2!
    Thanks again.

  76. Christian February 13th, 2008 7:07 am

    Hey, daniel…
First of all thank you for all the work you have done.
I read alle the comment on your site like a million times, but did see any answers to the problem with the error

    ‘Could not connect to ‘Hotmail’
Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email‘

If its because my account is too new, just let me know, but better write me a mail with something i can hope on.

The HTTPMail plugin 1.51 stopped working for me after i upgraded to OS X 10.5.2. Any one else with the same problem?

  78. Andrew February 13th, 2008 1:10 pm

my HTTPMail has not been working correctly since i upgraded to 10.5.2 either. It will upload messages from the hotmail server however i can not delete any messages once in mac mail. Also, every single email has been erased on hotmail server making it impossible to access my old emails unless through mac mail :(

  79. Cecilia February 14th, 2008 5:23 pm

The plugin stopped working for me as well after upgrading. I had to disable it myself because I kept crashing Mail. I ended up getting three duplicates of every folder I have. So, let’s all hope there will be a fix for this soon.

  80. t February 14th, 2008 9:48 pm

same here. can’t delete with the 10.5.2..

  81. George Zaboji February 16th, 2008 7:24 pm

I’ve updated my PB g4 and Intel Imac to 10.5.2 and mail works fine as it did before the update.

  82. alex February 18th, 2008 8:27 pm

it stopped working for me as well after the 10.5.2 udpate

  83. Yes February 18th, 2008 9:45 pm

Same here. Upgrading to 10.5.2 caused to stop httpmail on my system. Any cure yet?

  84. Jonathan February 20th, 2008 12:37 am

    Hi Daniel,

    Love your work.

Finding it hard to live without httpmail plugin as I have discovered it crashes mail when you invoke time machine under OSX 10.5.1 and 2

Freezes the dock and menu in Mail and only force quiting releases it. After removing plug in time machine operates normally.

Hopefully you are aware of this and working on an update!

Many thanks and look forward to the next update.

  85. Dev Roy February 23rd, 2008 4:36 pm

Hi – the link to the download does not work at least at the moment. Does anyone know an alternative site. Cheers

  86. Jonathan February 23rd, 2008 5:33 pm

    Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your excellent plugin! :)

I have my Hotmail account configured in Mail to download my sent emails from Hotmail. Unfortunately it does not download my sent emails I have sent using the Hotmail website however if I send an email in Mail using my Hotmail account, it saves it in my Hotmail sent folder.

Is it possible to download previous sent emails from Hotmail?

Could you please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Jonathan

  87. Toby February 25th, 2008 6:30 pm

Well another user whose whole inbox was deleted from Hotmail. Any way to restore these messages to make them viewable through Hotmail’s web interface?

    Thanks!

  88. Noya February 26th, 2008 9:23 am

Hi Daniel and all, the httpmail plugin 1.51 doesn’t work after upgraded to OS X 10.5.2 and if you try to install the plugin after upgraded to OS X 10.5.2 some error during installation will be displayed! Same happened in my another Mac!

Thanks and let us know the next update.

  89. alex February 28th, 2008 8:37 pm

Daniel, at least let us know if you plan to fix this or not. Just dont leave us all hanging here. A simple yes or no would do.

    we’d really appreciate it

Guys, this plug-in suddenly is working now! I guess Windows Live Mail changed something.
I did not delete the hotmail account on Mail till now, just hope that it might start working.
This morning it suddenly starts downloading all mails from my hotmail account!
    Do you experience same?
Somehow it works! Check your again!! I’m still running Leopard 10.5.2.

  93. Christer March 20th, 2008 7:40 am

the downloadsite is not working :(

  94. Yes March 20th, 2008 9:04 am

    Only for one day. 3/18/08.
Now it is not working again.
    I do not know why.

  95. Panda March 23rd, 2008 10:15 am

Hey thnx mate works great on leopard 10.5.2

  96. Jj March 24th, 2008 5:15 am

Well, it sends mail in 10.5.2 however it never receives it for some reason?

  97. Jonathan April 4th, 2008 2:58 am

    Hi again Daniel,

I have another problem with HTTPMail, whenever I tell it to download extra folders I’ve created in my Hotmail account, it moves everything from these folders to the Deleted folder!

HTTPMail downloads the extra folders fine however the contents are moved to the Deleted folder (HTTPMail doesn’t download any emails from the Deleted folder as well) every time unless I untick the download extras folder option :(

Could you please look into this problem as well as my previous post in this blog entry?

    Thanks!

    Jonathan

  98. Jonathan April 6th, 2008 9:56 am

    Hi again Daniel,

Please disregard my previous comment as I removed and added my Hotmail account in Mail today. This time it downloaded the extra folders properly including its contents without moving them to the deleted folder. My only problem with HTTPMail plugin so far is that it doesn’t download the Sent folder and its contents at all. Mail creates a local Sent folder on my Mac after trying to find the Sent folder in my Hotmail account with no success.

    Thanks!

    Jonathan

  99. drake April 14th, 2008 7:05 am

    dear daniel,

I am getting the error “Read error: services.msn.com – Connection reset by peer” on macbook leopard OS…can you help? Thanks,

  100. lonnie April 14th, 2008 9:55 am

I seem to have the problem of httpmail causing applemail to download my entire inbox and it doesn’t have the ability to delete messages. I will go through like 500 messages, delete them, erase deleted messages, and with the next “get mail” they all come downloading into my inbox again. they never get deleted from hotmail when I go to the website. Where did I go wrong?

  101. brenton April 20th, 2008 10:16 am

same deal as lonnie. i don’t care so much as to whether the emails get deleted on the msn server. i just don’t want mail to keep dl the same emails over and over. using 10.5.2

  102. mx April 24th, 2008 2:01 am

Hi. First of all, I must thank you for creating this marvelous plugin. But I tried setting up the plugin and also my account as instructed in the readme file. however, the following error shows up immediately after i click ‘get mail’ –> Read error: services.msn.com – Connection reset by peer.

Is there anything i missed out or can u provide help?

  103. alessandro April 29th, 2008 9:38 pm

hey daniel, so many people love you!!! help us… 1.52 please!!! :)

  104. Graesson May 13th, 2008 8:24 pm

I’m having the same problem as Lonnie:

I seem to have the problem of httpmail causing applemail to download my entire inbox and it doesn’t have the ability to delete messages. I will go through like 500 messages, delete them, erase deleted messages, and with the next “get mail” they all come downloading into my inbox again. they never get deleted from hotmail when I go to the website.

If I delete my ‘mail from the server” as instructed or empty my trash all the deleted stuff comes back repopulating.

  105. Ajuu May 18th, 2008 9:18 pm

Hi, I’m so glad that now I can use one mail software to read all my emails. I used to use Microsoft Entourage but much prefer Apple mail.
Many thanks for your time and effort creating this plug in. It worked well and was easy to follow the instructions.
    Kind Regards,

    Ajuu from Australia

  107. Maria Jose May 26th, 2008 12:42 am

Hi, in very interested in this plugin but I can’t download it from the site posted. I always get an error from the server. Anyone knows what can I do? Thanks a lot…

  108. Annabel May 26th, 2008 2:48 am

    Hey Daniel,

thanks a lot for your plug-in, I just bought my first Mac and I was really frustrated I could’nt use my Hotmail in Mail.

However, I can send emails now from Mail, but I do not seem to receive them. Can anyone help?

  109. Justin June 2nd, 2008 10:12 pm

So, I installed the plugin and worked great!!! But then all of a sudden my hotmail mailbox doesn’t sync. I take online, offline, and nothing happens. No exclamation point or anything. Can’t figure it out.

  110. Janet June 3rd, 2008 1:49 am

    Hi Daniel
Thank you for all your hard work, I love your application!

Listen, I have one problem that just came up, it’s the same one as Justin’s, unable to download mail or sync my hotmail account with Mail. I installed the plugin quite a few months ago, and its been working great, up until just recently. I think it might have something to do with the Combo update Mac issued a couple of days ago, anyway something has changed somewhere because I can’t use this wonderful application anymore.
Could you advise us as to what to do?
    Thanks again for everything.

  111. Grace June 3rd, 2008 1:03 pm

Ditto what the last couple comments said..

I can send, but I’m thinking that mine stopped being able to receive new e-mails just last night which, incidentally, is when I installed the new Mac update. I didn’t realize it wasn’t working until my sister told me today that she e-mailed (and re-mailed) a few times and I received nada one.

Any help would be much appreciated : )

  112. Trist June 5th, 2008 1:54 pm

    Hello,
I think the last update may be causing problems. Since installing Mac OS X Update (10.5.3) on the 31st May I haven’t been able to collect any mail form my Hotmail account. Incidently it works on another older Mac with different version of HTTPMail.
I’m not sure if this applies to the HTTPMail plugin.
05/06/2008 22:33:25 Mail[2071] could not find folder: (null)

Besides that, many thanks for HTTPMail plugin!

  113. KC June 5th, 2008 3:33 pm

I agree that 10.5.3 apparently broke something with the plugin.

  114. Jeff June 6th, 2008 12:18 pm

No new mail here either, same goes for a bunch of Mac users I’ve talked to.

  115. Adam June 7th, 2008 9:14 pm

same problem as above. After installing mac update, can’t receive mail but can send from hotmail account…. :(

  116. Russell June 8th, 2008 3:34 am

Thanks Daniel for your good work with httpmail – I think that consistently, it’s the best performing application out there for receiving hotmail through Apple Mail. I stopped being able to receive and send hotmail through Leopard Mail as soon as I updated to 10.5.3. I ‘downgraded’ to 10.5.2 using ‘Archive and Install’ and I can again receive and send hotmail.. Fairly painless process, taking about 45 minutes in total..

  117. Laura June 9th, 2008 12:02 am

    Hi,

I installed the httpmail 1.51 Leopard for my Mac OSX 10.5.3 last friday and it worked exactly for one day and then it stopped working. It just does’nt want to get any mail! Can anyone help me on this please???

    Thanks!

  118. Janine June 11th, 2008 1:07 am

Hi there Daniel and others, I have the same problem. Loved that little plugin but it hasn’t been able to retrieve my hotmail for the last ten days. Hadn’t realised it was because of that update. Any solutions?

How can I solve this problem?
