HTTPMail Plugin and Leopard

Tonight I’ve had some success with getting the plugin working under Leopard. It still isn’t ready for public consumption, however it is coming along nicely.
Currently if a httpmail account is already configured it will connect to the Hotmail servers and successfully download the messages. Unfortunately sub-folders aren’t quite working yet, nor is creation of new accounts or editing of account settings.
Still, it is progress 🙂 Now it is time to go to bed and get some sleep. With a wife, two kids and a day job, I don’t get as much time to work on these things as I once did 😉

  15. Hi Daniel, I too would like to add my name to this ever growing petition of your supporters. Thank you so very much for providing us with this functionality over the years.

    Kindest regards from Canada!

  16. It would be awesome to have the plugin working again. I’ve just switch between windows and os X, but I do miss using Hotmail in my mail app. Suc6 on the pluging. Thanx again

    Kinderst regards from The Netherlands

  17. Kudos for usurping Gates’ unwillingness to make a great web mail compatible with Mac. Your efforts have make life easier for folks the world over. Everyone I know uses your app. And there’s very few apps I can say that about…

    Many thanks.

  18. lol It’s just adorable to see how everyone is cheering you for the work you’ve done (so far ;-), some are even truly (?) concerned about your health and family. And all of this just in one week’s time 🙂 … But of course, we’re all quietly hoping you get the job done shortly.

Would it be too silly to think that someone might even have the crazy idea to nominate you for Time’s (or any other’s) Person of the Year, for all the cheering you get…

Now stop reading your posts, and get back to work! lol
    (once more) Cheers!

  19. This was the only flaw in leopard that i cared about, it’s pain full to open hotmail every hour in a browser.

    Keep up the Great work.

if you have made anymore progress please let us know.

  20. Hey Daniel,

I am just another fan of your work. Thanks a lot for wasting (investing) your time on this. You sure will make our lives better as you have been doing so far ^_^.

PS. Keep us updated so we suffer a little less 😛

  21. Daniel,
Thanks for your great work. I am anxiously waiting for the Leopard version. (Please do get some sleep though, I can wait as long I know it will come one day!)
    Cheers
    Steven

  22. Thanks for the update. I know you probably enjoy doing this project, but with you should perhaps think about accepting donations. Unless, of course, you want to set a min price for your efforts.

I too have used your plugin, and to your success, I must admit, I really found it to be valuable. Leopard, which I absolutely love, has really made me think more about boycotting Microsoft all together, to be honest.

I am determined to avoid using there products all together, to the best of my ability of course. Somehow, I doubt I will be able to avoid Office, though.

Anyways, again thank you as many your loyal clients have already said. I will probably not have to use your plugin, but never the less, you deserve my thanks for its use. All the best to you and your Family!

    Paul

  23. Hi Dan

  24. Daniel
We all have a lot of faith in you!
Thank you for your excellent work!
I hope you get some good rest.

P.S. Is there a way that we can make donations to show our appreciation?

  25. All I can say is

    Life is miserable without httpmail

    Pleas…………………….e make it work fast!

Good luck! and you already know that you have made a hell of a plugin I do not have to repeat it
Our crying sure tell you so.

  26. Hi Danile! You can do it! I was very happy with your plugin I hope you can develop the new one… Again, Thank you for your excellent job… Relax…

  27. Httpmail was easily my favourite plugin, I was gutted when I opened Mail for the first time in Leopard. Keep up the great work and good luck with the new version!

  28. Daniel,

It’s great that you’re finding the time to do this – it must be a challenge balancing work, family and updating httpmail. Just want to say it’s a great app, I miss it, and can’t wait to try it out when it’s ready for Leopard.

If you need some assistance testing I’ll be happy to help.

    All the best.

  29. Yes Daniel, the same as Michael said above,if u need volunteers to test it,feel free to contact me!
    Cheers

  30. I’m about to ditch hotmail, hopefully this will come out soon!!! Thanks for helping us overcome those MSN SOB’s!

  31. Daniel, you have my support, Ive been using your plug in for years…. I wonder why apple has not hired you to develop software for them!!!
    Awesome work, congrats!

  32. You really have made life so much better !!! I love my mac but to not able to see my mail through MacMail is harder then to see Joe Torre sign with the Dodgers!! Yes I am a Yankee fan people… LOL!! Good job and hurry up, Just kidding. Actually yeah do hurry up, kidding again, not really, kind of. 🙂

  33. I agree with Braden – given the level of demand for your tool I wouldn’t begrudge paying a small fee – say $1 to Daniel.

I am sure there are many many 000’s of people who would do the same.
