It&#8217;s amazing that the same hardware running Linux seems to run so much faster than when running XP.  Maybe I it&#8217;s just time for the semi-anual windows reinstall \ud83d\ude09&nbsp;<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>I thought I&#8217;d go the whole hog and try using Emacs as well.  I tooled up with all the various <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica; \">Emacs bits and pirces<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica; \"> I needed to make doing rails development under Emacs nice and off I went.  It only took a couple of days to get used to the cursor movement and cut\/copy\/paste commands, but in the end I decided to go back to eclipse :(, and then spent the next day or so wondering why <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica; \">Ctrl-K and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica; \">Alt-W didn&#8217;t do what I wanted \ud83d\ude09  I have to say I enjoyed the couple of weeks I spent with Emacs, but I&#8217;m still not ready to give up my modern UI ad<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica; \">d<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica; \">iction \ud83d\ude09<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica; \">&nbsp;<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Maybe one day I&#8217;ll give XEmacs a go&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been using Linux as my primary development environment in my day job for a couple of months now and for the most part I&#8217;m enjoying the change.
