  1. This version keeps on repeat downloading stuff that I have already downloaded off the server and deleted locally. The previous version didn’t do this. It’s a great plug in but needs tweaking for Leopard still. When is the next release please Daniel?
    Cheers

  2. Also the plug-in duplicates my inbox in Mail which is less of an issue but still an annoyance. Cheers; keep up the good work!

  3. Great plug-in. Have used it for a year or so now. Time to donate!
However – like Richard I am having a problem with not being able to delete emails in my hotmail account. Every time I delete an email it gets downloaded again. I have just done a clean installation of my system, for various reasons, and so I copied all my mailboxes into the Library’s Mail folder. Now Mail has downloaded 1518 emails into my inbox, which means I now have 1518 duplicates. Gulp. Anyway, once it’s fixed I will donate. (I am a honest supporter of a lot of shareware apps).

  4. Having the same problem Richard is. Are there specific server settings that are required to make it work properly? The Tiger version worked perfectly. I never had an issue with it, but this version still needs work.

  5. Hello,

The plugin stopped working for me about a week ago after 2 weeks of using it. Not sure what I did but I think it has something to do with my Hotmail automatically upgraded to Hotmail Live. Does anyone have the same problem? Please contact me if there are any solutions. I would gladly donate/buy this plugin if it worked!

Hope to hear from you guys. Thank you and keep up the good work.

  6. Hi,
this plugins was working great on my MBP under tiger, and is working great also under leopard, but a friend of mine is unable to make it work on her imac under Tiger, same issue as Ralph : the install is done correctly but she can’t add a httpmail type account, the icon doesn’t appear in preferences. We tried the manual install as specified in the readme but issue still occurs. Is there an other way to make it work ?

  7. Thank you for making HTTPmail. On Tiger it was the best program I had. I’m very glad you’ve made a version for Leopard, but there are a couple of kinks in it.
For some reason Mail won’t notify me of when something comes in. It’s only when I send something out that the notification sound will play. As a result I’m constantly checking my computer to see if anything new has come in.

Thank you very much for giving all of your supporters a place to talk to you.

  8. Thanks for your awesome job with this plugin! When I found the Tiger version I was utterly relieved that I could check all my accounts with Mail, and when you released the Leopard version I went for it the very moment I updated. However, everytime I open Mail, I get a message saying “The version of the HTTPMail plugin installed requires MacOS X 10.4” in addition, in the Preferences menu in Mail, in the HTTPMail plugin tab there says I installed v1.49 for Tiger. I’ve downloaded the 1.51 release half a dozen times and keep getting the same message… any ideas?

Thanks again for your fabulous work!

  9. Uh oh. So my hotmail account disappeared which was weird, and then I tried to re-add my hotmail account again. I then got a weird null error and such. Then I tried to quit Mail and couldn’t…. I installed the latest version of httpmail… and still doesn’t work. Oh noes 🙁 What can I do to restore my Mail? Ugh headache. How did this happen? =(

  10. Could someone PLEASE tell me why I get the following

“*** -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:]: nil string parameter” when trying to send mail using 10.5.1 and the 1.5.1 plugin – got me baffled????

  11. Hi,

I just install httpmail on Leopard.
All works fine except one thing for the moment…
When I receive a mail, I read it in Mail, but it still appears unread on the hotmail account when I sign into hotmails website.

    Is it normal?

In Mail I set “synchronize with the server” in the advanced tab.

    Thanks for your help

  12. Yay! I’ve been waiting for this since Leopard swallowed my mail months ago! Once installed, I could see the old mail again. Great job, thanks!

  13. Hi Daniel. I just installed the httpmail and everything went on fine at the mac.com side but when I try and receive mail from my hotmail account I get the message

‘Could not connect to ‘My Hotmail Mail’
Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email

the link just takes me back to my hotmail account but I do not know where or how to acquire the ‘subscription’ Any ideas…. thanks

    Nathan

  14. Hi Daniel,

First of all I’d like to say your work is great, I’m using it every day and I’ve no problem with my account. However I tried to synchronize my girlfriend account in my mail app and the message about the subscription doesn’t let me to use the account.

I’ve read that exists a plugin for MS Outlook 2003 & 2007 called Outlook Conector and I’d like to know if it’s possible to migrate this plugin to httpmail.

    Again, thanks for your effort.

    Pedro

  15. I’ve been using the plug-in on my macbook and it works great. I also have an ipod touch and apple has just added a mail app to that software. Any way to get the httpmail plug-in to the touch? Thanks so much for past, present, and future help.

    Brent

  16. I have been using httpmail for a while now. It has been working great. However, my entire inbox was deleted in hotmail so I can no longer access my emails from the internet. Just from mail. Does anyone know why this has happened and if there is a way of getting my inbox back in hotmail?
    Thanks

  17. Andrew, did you upgrade to OS X 10.5.2? Ive noticed my HttpMail plugin got disabled. Im going to look at it today?

  18. THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Daniel, PLEASE LET US KNOW IF HTTPMail plugin 1.51 WILL WORK WITH OS X 10.5.2!
    Thanks again.

  19. Hey, daniel…
First of all thank you for all the work you have done.
I read alle the comment on your site like a million times, but did see any answers to the problem with the error

    ‘Could not connect to ‘Hotmail’
Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email‘

If its because my account is too new, just let me know, but better write me a mail with something i can hope on.
    Best regards Christian

  20. The HTTPMail plugin 1.51 stopped working for me after i upgraded to OS X 10.5.2. Any one else with the same problem?

  21. my HTTPMail has not been working correctly since i upgraded to 10.5.2 either. It will upload messages from the hotmail server however i can not delete any messages once in mac mail. Also, every single email has been erased on hotmail server making it impossible to access my old emails unless through mac mail 🙁

  22. The plugin stopped working for me as well after upgrading. I had to disable it myself because I kept crashing Mail. I ended up getting three duplicates of every folder I have. So, let’s all hope there will be a fix for this soon.

  23. Hi Daniel,

    Love your work.

Finding it hard to live without httpmail plugin as I have discovered it crashes mail when you invoke time machine under OSX 10.5.1 and 2

Freezes the dock and menu in Mail and only force quiting releases it. After removing plug in time machine operates normally.

Hopefully you are aware of this and working on an update!

Many thanks and look forward to the next update.

  24. Hi – the link to the download does not work at least at the moment. Does anyone know an alternative site. Cheers

  25. Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your excellent plugin! 🙂

I have my Hotmail account configured in Mail to download my sent emails from Hotmail. Unfortunately it does not download my sent emails I have sent using the Hotmail website however if I send an email in Mail using my Hotmail account, it saves it in my Hotmail sent folder.

Is it possible to download previous sent emails from Hotmail?

Could you please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Jonathan

  26. Well another user whose whole inbox was deleted from Hotmail. Any way to restore these messages to make them viewable through Hotmail’s web interface?

    Thanks!

  27. Hi Daniel and all, the httpmail plugin 1.51 doesn’t work after upgraded to OS X 10.5.2 and if you try to install the plugin after upgraded to OS X 10.5.2 some error during installation will be displayed! Same happened in my another Mac!

Thanks and let us know the next update.

  28. Daniel, at least let us know if you plan to fix this or not. Just dont leave us all hanging here. A simple yes or no would do.

    we’d really appreciate it

  29. Hi guys, when i click “Get Mail”

I will get this error message “Read error: services.msn.com – Connection reset by peer”

    Why ???

  30. Guys, this plug-in suddenly is working now! I guess Windows Live Mail changed something.
I did not delete the hotmail account on Mail till now, just hope that it might start working.
This morning it suddenly starts downloading all mails from my hotmail account!
    Do you experience same?
Somehow it works! Check your again!! I’m still running Leopard 10.5.2.

  31. Hi again Daniel,

I have another problem with HTTPMail, whenever I tell it to download extra folders I’ve created in my Hotmail account, it moves everything from these folders to the Deleted folder!

HTTPMail downloads the extra folders fine however the contents are moved to the Deleted folder (HTTPMail doesn’t download any emails from the Deleted folder as well) every time unless I untick the download extras folder option 🙁

Could you please look into this problem as well as my previous post in this blog entry?

    Thanks!

    Jonathan

  32. Hi again Daniel,

Please disregard my previous comment as I removed and added my Hotmail account in Mail today. This time it downloaded the extra folders properly including its contents without moving them to the deleted folder. My only problem with HTTPMail plugin so far is that it doesn’t download the Sent folder and its contents at all. Mail creates a local Sent folder on my Mac after trying to find the Sent folder in my Hotmail account with no success.

    Thanks!

    Jonathan

  33. dear daniel,

I am getting the error “Read error: services.msn.com – Connection reset by peer” on macbook leopard OS…can you help? Thanks,

  34. I seem to have the problem of httpmail causing applemail to download my entire inbox and it doesn’t have the ability to delete messages. I will go through like 500 messages, delete them, erase deleted messages, and with the next “get mail” they all come downloading into my inbox again. they never get deleted from hotmail when I go to the website. Where did I go wrong?
