Almost there!

Yesterday I got account editing working, and tonight’s effort sees sending working. It is still not possible to create new accounts, but that is something for another time. It’s almost midnight and I’m going to be woken up at some time around 3 or 4 am by the little one for a feed so I’d better go get some sleep while I can 😉

Once I’ve got account creation working then the plugin is pretty much done for Leopard 🙂

  1. Will it then be available on SourceForge? Thank you for all your hard work. Microsoft should pay you since you’re keeping a lot of their loyal Hotmail customers for them!!!!

  2. Hi Daniel,

That’s realy great of you!!! Thnx a lot for making time to fix this for us all.

By the way, if one day u don’t know what to do ,will probably never happen since u are a dad now, u can always try to find a way to add hotmail bddies into ichat with full functionality (without that jabber workaround) 😉

It’s so nice to keep on dreaming.

Anyway, great work with your httpmail plugin!!!

    cheers – Yves

  3. thank you so much!

  4. You should get some help with the plug in. Make it open source, that way you don’t kill yourself doing it. Anyway… Thanks for your hard work…. we all really appreciate it!!!

    Thanks!!!

  5. You, sir, are quite simply THE MAN. Thanks so much for your work on this. Let this and the other threads be ample evidence that people really REALLY appreciate independent developers and would much rather support you that those other characters.

Like all the others- I can’t thank you enough. Sleep well.

  6. Javier, the plugin has been open source since February 26th 2003. In that time I’ve had 1 code contribution 🙁
I think the main problem is that there is no documentation for the internals of Mail so it takes quite a bit of effort just to get to a point where useful work can be done.

  7. Hey, Daniel, you’re going really fast. And we all appreciate it! Can’t wait until it’s ready!
    Thanks.

    -Regards from New York City.

  8. Wow, you’ve got on really quick.

Looking forward for this update. This is the main reason why I havent upgraded yet!

  9. good news indeed – your plugin has helped me more than you know – any chance the new plugin might work on newer hotmail accounts too? really though, thanks for your hard work.

  10. Thanks again Daniel! This is one of those things I didn’t realize I had become so dependent on – until it was gone. So, I’m going to put my money where my mouth is this time.

  11. Thanks Daniel.. you are awesome! My computer feels so incomplete without your valuable plugin. Keep up the great work.

  12. Thanks Daniel – consider httpmail (leopard) worthy of a small donation from me. I’ve moved most of my stuff over to Gmail now but it’s still nice to have the option of checking my hotmail from Mail.

  13. Dan….you da man!!
I’ve used your plug in for years now and would be lost without it for sure.
Any way we can donate to help you out?

    Thanks again!!

  14. Great work.

I really appreciate that you are producing good software that fills a need, and at the same time performing your paternal duties – they both sound like labors of love

    regards

  15. Thank you Daniel. You might get this question a lot but is there a plugin to use MSN with iChat and have file transfers and video chats?

  16. thanks again for all your work from belgium !

  19. I have just bought a MAC for the first time, leaving Windows behind. Fantastic machine but desperately missing your add-on! Having to use entourage for now…will expire in a week or so. Please don’t make me have to buy it just to keep my email working!!!!

Thank you for your great effort

  20. Everyone is saying thanks and such…. But where is the download… btw, thank you for working so hard at getting this set up for us… 🙂

  21. I’m guessing that a lot of you guys are cheking this page 3 or 4 times a day. Daniel, I sincerely appreciate your efforts. I hope you’re getting enough sleep though. We’ll take the plugin when it’s ready.

  22. Installed fine, but the problem is… Every time I quit Mail and restart it, the Hotmail account disappears. Any suggestions… TIA.

  23. Thanks for this daniel … awsome… but i am getting the same error message as op…”*** -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:]: nil string parameter”. I’m not sure it isn’t something to do with certain ISP’s. Any ideas?

  24. thanks man fot your wotk, it just to work very well on tiger but know with leopard i got the following error ,
    *** -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:]: nil string parameter .

  25. I am getting the exact same error message when I try sending messages from my hotmail account: *** -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:]: nil string parameter.

Does anyone have a solution for this???

  26. I’m getting the same error and would love to figure out a solution. Maybe I just can’t use Mail right now. Not sure what my other choices are.
